On a fine Saturday in June 2003 St Andrew’s Church Pickworth opened its doors for a fund-raising day featuring the church’s well-known medieval wall paintings. The interest aroused by that occasion led to the formation of the Pickworth Local History Group, an informal gathering of enthusiasts who wanted to find out more about their village. A grant from the Local Heritage Initiative (later administered by the Heritage Lottery Fund) enabled the PLHG to produce three books/booklets and to organise local events celebrating the heritage of the village and parish.
